“Julianne Lurie has been under my tutelage for approximately six months. During this time I have had the pleasure to get to know her, and witness her dedication and character first hand.
In my opinion Julianne has proven herself to be responsible, goal oriented, dedicated, brave, and hard working. I believe she possesses leadership qualities. I have on numerous occasions observed her helping younger students, contributing positively to their growth and learning.
During her short time in my program, she has improved her riding immensely. I feel that Julianne will continue thrive and contribute to any program she becomes a part of. I highly recommend her, and will miss having her at my farm, when she leaves for university.
If I can answer any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.”

“I am writing this letter to enthusiastically support Julianne Lurie as she moves towards her Senior year at Shorecrest and begins to apply for admission to college as well as scholarships and financial aid. I have known Julianne for three years, since she was a Freshman in my Intro to 3D Design course. She has taken my course as her primary elective each year since, and will be one of only four Advanced Placement students in 3D Design her Senior year.
Over the last three years, Julianne has shown herself to be an excellent student who is committed to growing and learning 100% of the time. Each year she pushes herself more and more as the depth of her artistic inquiry grows. She is a creative problem solver, with great determination to complete her projects and realize her vision. Her attention to detail and follow through is impeccable. Additionally, she is a strong classroom citizen, always willing to share her material and process knowledge with her peers. This type of contribution is invaluable to me as a teacher, and generally I don’t expect a teenager to rise to this sort of challenge. I have greatly enjoyed seeing her growth in my classroom, and I am especially excited to see what she accomplishes in her Senior year when she approaches the rigor required of A.P students. Lastly, Julianne’s artwork is appreciated outside of my classroom; each year for the last three years she has received Silver and Gold Key awards at the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
I would strongly recommend Julianne for admission into any institute of higher education. I believe she will have something wonderful to bring to the table no matter where she ends up continuing her studies.”

“I’ve known Julianne Lurie for three years. I had her in my English 9 class and now in my AP Language and Composition class. Over the years, we have developed a close connection with one another, and I’ve come to know Julianne as an empathetic, dedicated, intellectually curious, and ambitious student, one whose strength of voice has flourished and whose dedication to her academic and extra-curricular achievement has proven to be one of the greatest I’ve seen in my time at Shorecrest.
Julianne came into my English 9 class a trepidatious student. Her reading and writing skills needed development, and she seemed a little overwhelmed by the level of analysis expected of her. Her writing was somewhat repetitive, as with most freshmen writers. After her first essay, however, Julianne came for extra help, and she did far better on the revision of that essay. Before the next essay, she came for help again. Her grade was even better, and I noticed she stopped repeating herself. That year, I saw more growth from her than from any other student. Two years later, she wanted to take AP Language because she heard it was an interesting class but was a little worried because she thought English wasn’t her best subject. She struggled early with getting enough writing on the page.
Julianne may have been worried early in the class, but she never let that stop her. She began coming to me for help right after the first essay, and almost immediately saw results. Her essays became more focused, and her voice began to creep in more. She started having more to say in general. I began to notice her passion for history and the sheer breadth of knowledge she has, especially in American history. I was most impressed with her essay on Frederick Douglass and another on the Civil Rights Era. That’s because Julianne’s voice shines through especially when she recognizes a deep injustice, especially in our nation’s history. I think it’s her admiral tendency to look inward that makes her look deepest at her own nation’s faults.
She’s likely brought her knowledge of how to handle setbacks in the classroom from her life as an athlete. The poise she shows in her equestrian competitions is very much like the poise she shows in the classroom, never letting setbacks or challenges get to her, moving forward with everything she has. She’s a very strong student because of that determination.
Julianne is smart and insightful, but she is so much more than that. She’s the kind of student who takes failure and grows from it. She’s the kind of student who suffers hardship, and then flourishes. She’s the kind of student whom I trust to do the absolute best she can in every situation, and for that reason alone I’d write this and any letter of recommendation she needed. Rarely does a student come along that I can trust and believe in like I can trust Julianne, and for that I am grateful.”
